One evening Mr. Utterson came home and took the safe the will of Dr. Jekyll, who said that if he died or disappeared, his fortune would pass to the hands of Edward Hyde.
Mr. Utterson walked home from Dr. Lanyon, (friend of Dr. Jekyll), to talk about what happened. Dr Lanyon said he knew of no Hyde, since long time not seen with Dr. Jekyll.
Mr. Utterson decided he wanted to meet Mr. Hyde and hid overnight in the courtyard of the door he hated Mr. Enfield and Mr. Hyde appeared when asked if Dr. Jekyll was in the house, Hyde replied that no, giving the direction of his house, located in the Soho street.
Mr. Utterson went around the house turning to the main entrance of the same. He knocked. He opened Poole, the butler, who was announced and asked if his master could receive. Poole made him go. Before the butler was to see if his master was in the house, took Mr. Utterson to ask if he knew Mr. Hyde, as he had seen go through the back door. Poole said he had a house key and all employees and they only came out the other door (Poole informing him that his master was not at home.)
